Perum Cheral Irumporai ( Tagadur Erinta ) was the king of Chera dynasty who ruled for almost 17 years. He was the son of Selvak Kadungo Vaazi Adan. He is the hero of eighth decad of Pathirrupattu composed by poet Arisil Kilar. He ruled the kingdom with Karur as his capital. There was a sieze of Karur by the chola king Kulamutrathu Thunjia Killivalavan. This resulted in a war in which Chera king Perum Cheral Irumporai won and assumed the title "Ko Perum Cheral Irumporai". Athiyaman of Tagadur was under the rule of Cheras. When he rebelled against the rule of Cheras, Perum Cheral Irumporai attacked and defeated him. His invasion, destruction and victory of the city of Tagadur of Athiyaman chief Ezhni is mentioned in Tagadur Yathirai, a literary work. He is also known as Tagadur Erintha Perum Cheral Irumporai.
He was greatly praised by the poets of his time. A poet Kapilar speaks of his valour, wisdom and generosity. He was a brave warrior and never showed his back to the enemies. He was a just ruler and always had the welfare of his subjects at heart. He is also said to have subjugated a rebellious shepherd leader named Kaluvul and captured his fortress.
