The Timurid
Dynasty, self-designated as Gurkani. His empire includes the whole of Central
Asia, Iran, Pakisthan and Afghanisthan and some parts of India and Mesopotamia.
It was founded by the legendary conqueror Timur (who also known as Tamerlane)
in the fourteenth century. Timur is considered the last of the great nomadic
conquerors of the Eurasian Steppe, and his empire set the stage for the rise of
the more structured and lasting Gunpowder Empires in the 1500s and 1600s.
In the year 1467
Timurids lost most of Persia to Ag
Qoyunlu. After that they continued to rule smaller states known as Timurid
Emirates in Central Asia and some parts of India. However in 16th century
Babur, who was a descendant of Timur
through his father and possibly a descendant of Genghis Khan through his mother
invaded Afghanisthan and established a small kingdom there.
In the year
1526 Babur invaded India. On April 21 1526 by defeating Ibrahim Lodi in the
First Battle of Panipat, Babur established Mughal Empire in India. Mughals
successfully ruled India till the eighteenth century. In the year 1857 British
Empire dissolved Mughals Empire and put an end to the Timurid Dynasty.
